Red Wings Rumblings

The Red Wings announced another free-agent acquisition yesterday, and who would have guessed — it’s another former Michigan Wolverine:

Motte, a 4th round pick by Chicago in 2013, has been sort of a journeyman over his 400 NHL games played. He likely won’t add much offense, but is a two-way forward who can eat up tough minutes. Motte was with the Tampa Bay Lightning last season, where he played 69 regular season games and five playoff apperances.

Development Camp at LCA continues, and a big story yesterday out of camp was a visit from one of the greatest Red Wings ever:

I can’t tell ya the last time I saw Pavel Datsyuk wearing Red Wings gear. I’d be lying if I didn’t get a little emotional when I saw it the first time — we all remember how his career as a Red Wing ended, and which he mentioned during some time with the media:

In other Red Wings news, the NHL dropped schedules for the 2024-2025 regular season. Detroit will open the season at home against Pittsburgh on October 10th. Save the date!
